Vintage Mink

My honey gifted me this gorgeous vintage mink stole over Valentine weekend. It was actually his mother's and - I'm still shocked by this - his sister was going to throw it out! So he snatched it up and made it a gift to me. I wore it out for Valentine's Day dinner and felt like an old time movie starlet.

We had a wonderful, dreamy, romantic time together. I couldn't have asked for more... Cheers!

Vintage

I picked up this skirt while vintage hunting in Paris, France. It's a fantastic skirt on its own as it is but the fact of where I purchased it makes it all the more special to me.

 

This is the last outfit photo from my old apartment. I'll have to find somewhere new to take photographs here! Cheers...

Dark Giraffe

Don't have much to say today. I miss mon homme and life's stresses are weighing on me. This top is fast becoming a new favourite, picked up at Value Village a few weeks ago.

I seem to be going back and forth between bursting with bright colours and camouflaging myself in earth tones and greens. I just always loved how wearing green brings out that colour in my eyes.

 

I know I'll look back at this time in my life and be glad of it, but at the moment I just want it to be done and passed. Thinking about my life, the dreams I wish for it, I think big changes are coming again. Cheers...

Cool Vintage

The weather is fluctuating from mad hot days to cool ones like today. I've taken this chance to wear my vintage skirt, which is just too long and thick for really hot days. Finally having access to all my clothes after two and a half months feels almost like having a whole new wardrobe.

 

I seem to be embracing a lot of looser, baggier looks lately. I am pretty stressed of late though, and maybe it's just the psychological effect of feeling like I'm wearing a clothes-security-blanket that is causing this. Either way, I'm glad I didn't belt this top today. Cheers!

Big Glasses

I don't wear these vintage sunglasses very often. Sometimes I love their obscenely huge lenses and other times I think they look silly. Today was a love day.

 

 I'm waiting for it to cool down a little and then I think I'll go for a walk. I've been too slothful these last two weeks and I need to get up and going again. I enjoy a nice summer night walk and if I could make that a habit I'd be happy. Cheers!

Bare Face

I haven't been bothering to wear any makeup these last few days. It began with my just being too stressed and busy due to some irritating tax related issues, and then I just didn't care anymore. I don't really like how I look without it - basically sickly pale, exhausted and spotty - but eh.

I've been wearing a lot of my old office-era shoes around the apartment. I have nowhere else to wear them so I may as well enjoy them a little bit! Cheers...

Costumed

I only wore part of this out of the house. The necklace is sadly much too fragile to risk wearing out again - the petals break off way too easily and people always rush in for a hug and CRUNCH. I cannot keep gluing it back together!

The shoes are totally wearable outside, just not this time of year. Still much too wet and squishy outside! Not to mention I haven't decided whether or not I'm willing to attempt driving in these, and I'm way too lazy to switch shoes when climbing in and out of my vehicle just for the sake of being able to wear pretty shoes.

Finally it's warm enough to start wearing shorter hems with bare legs. I wouldn't go spending an afternoon outside like this but at least it's not uncomfortable. A few more weeks and temps will hopefully be in the 20's and I won't have to avoid the outdoors anymore! Cheers...

Happy Dress

What seems like ages ago, the wonderful Anne sent me this dress in part of a package. It was originally sewn to have a halter strap but I undid the thread and resewed it to have two straps.

 

It's not fitted or polished or in a modern style. It's definitely not flattering haha, especially without the belt in which case it just looks like a psychedelic muumuu. But I still love it! This is how it looked before I altered it.

It was too long and weird things were going on around the halter. Now I have minimal capped sleeves! And the back is high enough to hide my bra, which is great. I may wind up making a few more alterations to it as I go along but for now I'm rocking it like this.

 

I'll probably look back on this stage in my life and wonder what the heck I was doing haha, but I'm happy right now and that's what counts. What's the point of being young and free if you don't push the boundaries and have some fun? Cheers!

Bright Times

Not a lot of time this morning, I should really be getting ready to head out on my little trip. But I wore a new-to-me vintage dress yesterday, and pulled some chocolate chip meringue cookies from the oven this morning, and had to share before I left!

I purchased my dress from the wonderful Amber at Violet Folklore. The recipe for the meringue cookies is very simple, and a Martha Stewart recipe I actually don't feel is pretentious or overly complex, for once!



They're crisp with a tiny bit of chewiness, just perfect! My friend Nicole will love them! I hope you all have a good Monday. Cheers!
