This is a pretty horrible photo in terms of quality, but I loved my outfit today. I just felt really cute and happy, so I decided to quickly snap a few shots and take what I could get.
The only things missing are earrings, because I somehow left the house without any today, which is odd for me. Early mornings make my brain all foggy, I guess. Cheers!

Settling
It's been about a month since I moved into my new home and my room finally feels properly settled. I've got glow in the dark stars on the ceiling and artwork on the walls.
I'm still swamped with homework but there's only two and a half more weeks of school to go. It'll be nice to have the holidays off to relax and recuperate. Cheers!

Scholarship Weekend
I was one of the lucky few to win a scholarship from the Canadian Hospitality Foundation and part of that was being invited to their gala award ceremony and charity ball down in Toronto. My boyfriend lives about halfway there so I took the opportunity to visit him too. Unfortunately only the scholarship winners were given a free dinner, everybody else had to pony up $450 a person so I attended alone. The food was divine though! Not to mention how I felt in the lovely dress my boyfriend bought me for my birthday so I could have something decent to wear to the ceremony.
My mountain-man and I :) And yes that's a bear skin rug on the floor behind me. I love his cabin home. I didn't get to stick around too long though since it was still several hours drive to the ceremony in Toronto. The food alone was worth it!
They did a lot of modern stuff with their food presentation, like this plastic 'papillote' instead of using wax paper, which was really neat. Although I got the impression that non-foodies were more than a little confused by it.
By the time dessert came around I felt like I was going to explode. There was even a cheese plate after the dessert, but I didn't photograph that because I was too far into my food coma. But I actually got to eat some edible gold leaf, fancy! I drove home late and slept like the dead that night.

The Sunday with my honey was leisurely. We went out for a paddle - he paddled, I enjoyed - on the lake and generally just enjoyed each other's company. I cooked us up a leg of lamb for dinner and we drank plenty of tasty wine.
I snapped this last photo off the Monday morning when I was leaving to drive home and head to my afternoon classes. It was a decadent and most enjoyable weekend all around. I still have a bunch of photos from my class trip to Niagara to share too but I have a ton of homework to finish - which explains my general absence here - before I get around to that. Cheers!

The wine was free-flowing and delicious, including a sparkling wine later in the evening. Their sorbet presentation was gorgeous too; instead of in a dish, it was served in an specially made ice bowl with a little electric candle in the base lighting it from the inside. There was even live entertainment!

Vintage
I picked up this skirt while vintage hunting in Paris, France. It's a fantastic skirt on its own as it is but the fact of where I purchased it makes it all the more special to me.
This is the last outfit photo from my old apartment. I'll have to find somewhere new to take photographs here! Cheers...

Mackinaw
My mother says the mackinaw makes me look like a hillbilly but it's fun to wear it around. I'm feeling less feminine lately and wanting to wear rougher outfits and it works well with that.
I'm also stubbornly doing this socks and sandals thing until it's kinda ridiculous, because I can. My birks are just so comfy. Cheers!

Grandpa Sweater
The post title says it, this sweater belonged to my grandfather. With the cool weather now descended, I just wanted to wear something snuggly and warm and this fit the bill perfectly. I chose my eyeshadow colours to mirror the colours in the pattern.
I'm slowly learning to style my hair, finally managed to get it to stay off the back shaved part of my head. Now the hair is tickling at my ear and I'm wondering whether or not to trim it down again. I'm still thinking of letting it grow out and then shaving the side down again once the back has grown back in. We'll see. Cheers!

Dark Giraffe
Don't have much to say today. I miss mon homme and life's stresses are weighing on me. This top is fast becoming a new favourite, picked up at Value Village a few weeks ago.
I seem to be going back and forth between bursting with bright colours and camouflaging myself in earth tones and greens. I just always loved how wearing green brings out that colour in my eyes.

I know I'll look back at this time in my life and be glad of it, but at the moment I just want it to be done and passed. Thinking about my life, the dreams I wish for it, I think big changes are coming again. Cheers...

Love Blowing In
I just spent a magical 24 hours with an amazing man and I couldn't be happier... except maybe if he were still here! We went swimming, I made us a delicious dinner which we ate by candlelight (ah the romance of a power outage) and just thoroughly enjoyed each other's company.
It was a small window in a busy time for him and I feel special that he took the time and made the effort to come be with me for a while. We're hoping for another visit in two weeks or so and I really look forward to it. This feels different than any other relationship or dating has been for me. Maybe I've got something really special here... I think I may.
I think the only one happy about his leaving was my cat... jealous kitty is jealous. I'm still hesitant because this all feels too good to be true... but maybe it's finally my time to have this. I'm enjoying it while I can. Cheers!

Cool Vintage
The weather is fluctuating from mad hot days to cool ones like today. I've taken this chance to wear my vintage skirt, which is just too long and thick for really hot days. Finally having access to all my clothes after two and a half months feels almost like having a whole new wardrobe.
I seem to be embracing a lot of looser, baggier looks lately. I am pretty stressed of late though, and maybe it's just the psychological effect of feeling like I'm wearing a clothes-security-blanket that is causing this. Either way, I'm glad I didn't belt this top today. Cheers!

Make It
It's another scorching hot day today and none of my tops felt like something appropriate for this weather. One of the things I purchased when last thrifting was a large floral shawl of sorts, so I folded it, wrapped it and knotted it and made my own little top.
The colours in the photos may seem a bit odd, but the sun was washing me out badly, so I changed my camera settings and managed to avoid looking like a glowing sheet. I know my confidence has skyrocketed when I'm comfortable going out in a homemade tube top, showing my belly to the world. Cheers!

Big Glasses
I don't wear these vintage sunglasses very often. Sometimes I love their obscenely huge lenses and other times I think they look silly. Today was a love day.
I'm waiting for it to cool down a little and then I think I'll go for a walk. I've been too slothful these last two weeks and I need to get up and going again. I enjoy a nice summer night walk and if I could make that a habit I'd be happy. Cheers!

Floral Edge
This is a dress I thrifted last week. My bosom is slightly too large for it so the little waist bit rides up some but I honestly don't care. The dress is just so light and airy and feminine and I enjoy wearing it.
I've been waffling back and forth about how I feel about my new hair cut. Today is a love day. I won't be keeping the back of my head shaved down like this for long, but I am loving the new short length in the back. I hadn't realized how much of an irritation all that hair back there was for me.
The field behind my home is just gorgeous right now and it felt good to get out there with my camera. I've been pretty slothful lately since getting home and I've already put on weight, but at least this outfit makes me feel attractive. I hope the sun is shining where you are too. Cheers!

I'm Back B*tches
It's been a week since I'm back from the island it's nice to be home! My last weeks there were... something else. It's nothing I really feel like going into detail about, except that there's a certain man who's enchanted me and I have that island and the madness that ensued there to thank for it. That, and check out these guns!
I picked up this red mini skirt thrifting last week when I realized I am now too big (uuugh) for my other short skirts, and that some of my other clothes are literally falling apart and disintegrating from age and wear. I also hacked off the sleeves, neckline and part of the hem on this summer's staff t-shirt. That's all folks. Cheers!
