The colours in the photos may seem a bit odd, but the sun was washing me out badly, so I changed my camera settings and managed to avoid looking like a glowing sheet. I know my confidence has skyrocketed when I'm comfortable going out in a homemade tube top, showing my belly to the world. Cheers!

Make It
It's another scorching hot day today and none of my tops felt like something appropriate for this weather. One of the things I purchased when last thrifting was a large floral shawl of sorts, so I folded it, wrapped it and knotted it and made my own little top.

Floral Edge
This is a dress I thrifted last week. My bosom is slightly too large for it so the little waist bit rides up some but I honestly don't care. The dress is just so light and airy and feminine and I enjoy wearing it.
I've been waffling back and forth about how I feel about my new hair cut. Today is a love day. I won't be keeping the back of my head shaved down like this for long, but I am loving the new short length in the back. I hadn't realized how much of an irritation all that hair back there was for me.
The field behind my home is just gorgeous right now and it felt good to get out there with my camera. I've been pretty slothful lately since getting home and I've already put on weight, but at least this outfit makes me feel attractive. I hope the sun is shining where you are too. Cheers!

Tiny Petals
I bought this dress in the middle of winter for a pittance, and it's great finally getting to wear it. It's made in a way that I don't need to wear a bra and I am so taking advantage of that because that's a rare thing indeed for me.
Summer seems to have arrived all of a sudden, practically skipping right over Spring. The sun is out and it's getting hot. There were barely leaves on the trees at the beginning of last week, and now everything is lush and green and alive.
I'm taking a day trip tomorrow up to the island where I'll be working this summer. The camp director will show me the kitchen and grounds, and where I'll be staying. I'm really anxious to see my kitchen and where I'll be working my trade. It's exciting! Cheers!

Bare Face
I haven't been bothering to wear any makeup these last few days. It began with my just being too stressed and busy due to some irritating tax related issues, and then I just didn't care anymore. I don't really like how I look without it - basically sickly pale, exhausted and spotty - but eh.
I've been wearing a lot of my old office-era shoes around the apartment. I have nowhere else to wear them so I may as well enjoy them a little bit! Cheers...

Heartbreaker
It's springtime, the first of May. Love must be in the air because I've had to gently let down three separate courting gentlemen in the last few weeks. I suppose I can't complain, it's pretty flattering, but still. It's not something I'm used to!
I really wanted to wear my mustard shirt today, and a dress. So I did this. Not sure if I'll wear this again, or if I'd even leave the house wearing this - it's still cold and wet and gloomy out so definitely not sandal friendly - but it's good enough for kicking around the house while I break in the sandals.
I've had the sandals a few years now but never properly broke them in, but I am determined to do so for this upcoming season. Hopefully they'll be extra comfy by the time things dry out and the weather finally takes a turn for the better.Cheers!

Costumed
I only wore part of this out of the house. The necklace is sadly much too fragile to risk wearing out again - the petals break off way too easily and people always rush in for a hug and CRUNCH. I cannot keep gluing it back together!
The shoes are totally wearable outside, just not this time of year. Still much too wet and squishy outside! Not to mention I haven't decided whether or not I'm willing to attempt driving in these, and I'm way too lazy to switch shoes when climbing in and out of my vehicle just for the sake of being able to wear pretty shoes.
Finally it's warm enough to start wearing shorter hems with bare legs. I wouldn't go spending an afternoon outside like this but at least it's not uncomfortable. A few more weeks and temps will hopefully be in the 20's and I won't have to avoid the outdoors anymore! Cheers...

Tent Dress
I don't know if I can really call this a tent dress but that's what it feels like. Oddly I think I prefer wearing it like this than having it belted. It's super comfy too, I have a feeling I'll be wearing this a lot this summer.
We're having another Easter supper at my grandmother's today, and these colours just feel very easter-y to me. The little white shoes are new ones from Ardene's too, bought at the same time as the floral ones from yesterday. It's nice being able to wear something other than winter boots again. Cheers!

Happy Easter
I'm going to Easter supper at my aunt and uncle's today and I donned this colourful outfit to help celebrate when it's still gloomy and brown outside. Even though a lot of the snow has melted, it just leaves sad dead grass and naked trees everywhere, so colour thrown into things is always nice.

I picked up the cute floral shoes at Ardene's for a song, I couldn't resist them. They're soft and comfy and snuggle my feet. I've been waiting weeks for the weather to get to a point where I can wear them and Easter is a perfect time to break them out. Cheers!

Happy Dress
What seems like ages ago, the wonderful Anne sent me this dress in part of a package. It was originally sewn to have a halter strap but I undid the thread and resewed it to have two straps.
It's not fitted or polished or in a modern style. It's definitely not flattering haha, especially without the belt in which case it just looks like a psychedelic muumuu. But I still love it! This is how it looked before I altered it.
It was too long and weird things were going on around the halter. Now I have minimal capped sleeves! And the back is high enough to hide my bra, which is great. I may wind up making a few more alterations to it as I go along but for now I'm rocking it like this.
I'll probably look back on this stage in my life and wonder what the heck I was doing haha, but I'm happy right now and that's what counts. What's the point of being young and free if you don't push the boundaries and have some fun? Cheers!

From India
My Indian classmate saw me wearing this today and immediately asked if it was from India, which it is. I doubt its makers ever thought it would wind up on someone like me. I've had this tunic since 2011 and I'll have it as long as it holds together.
Today is odd, because I'm looking at my face and thinking I'm beautiful, but I can't say the same for my personality. Ah well... Cheers...

Patch Me Up
My soul is aching today. I'm doing my best to appease it, with yoga, and Johnny Cash and an outfit that speaks to me. I do my best to mend my soul, like I do my clothing. This dress has a pretty glaring patch on the back, but I refused to let it die.
I'm having a hard time of things in general lately, which makes me retreat onto myself. It's safe in my colourful, lively home, away from the world's demands and the people in it. Getting through a week is exhausting and mentally taxing and I just don't have the energy for people much anymore.

I'm tired of chasing after people. Tired of feeling like nobody wants me around. I can only try so many times before the futility of it gets to me. And it's frustrating because I feel like I am an amazing person with a lot to offer as a friend. But nobody seems interested in finding out, no matter how I try.

So I'm spending another weekend alone. Because I'm done trying for a while. If anybody wants me, they know where I am. It just makes me feel tenfold worse when I stick out my neck and have it blow up in my face. It's easier to just accept being alone. At least I'm used to it. Cheers...

I do have some wonderful friends here, but their lives are busy and full. It's easy to fall between the cracks. And I just don't know how to get close to them, how to really build our friendship into what I so desperately need. It's hard when you always feel like you're imposing, like a burden, like the person taken pity upon, even if it's not true.

Barefoot Psychedelia
I don't dress to fit in. I don't follow trends or worry about being in style. I don't worry about what people may think about my clothes. I feel bad for people who look like carbon copies of each other, all dressed in different versions of the same thing, with similar hairstyles. Lost in consumerism and mass marketing.
It doesn't take much to be made to believe we want something. Just a few people touting its wonderfulness and the mob flocks to acquire whatever it is, be it the newest Apple product or any garment with the current It Colour (I'll never forget the summer of coral hues). I just wish people would take half a second, and think about why they are wearing what they do. Is it because you like it and it makes you happy? Or because you were convinced that was true? Thinking for ourselves is important, don't lose yourself in commercialism and mass produced scrap. Cheers...

Bright Alterations
I don't lightly cut into vintage garments, but I like to personalize my clothing and if I can alter it to please me or fit me better, by golly I will! So I cut away the lower half of my vintage maxi, and made the scraps into a wrap skirt.
I'm very happy with its new length. As gorgeous and wonderful as is the print, it's also just very loud and intense and a full length dress of it was just a bit too much to take in. Part of me misses the original maxi of it, but I love the new dress and the wrap skirt I made out of it. Two for the price of one! Cheers!

Scarf Inspiration
This outfit was built around my scarf today. I bought it when I was in Belgium, so it's extra special to me, even if on its own it's probably one of a million and more. I felt like being extra bright and colourful and it fit the bill perfectly.
I had a good week visiting friends, even though a snow squall kept me away from home a day longer than planned. I cannot wait for Spring to get here and this interminable winter to finally be over!
It's a beautiful sunny Sunday, but I have laundry to go do. At least I started things off nicely by doing some yoga in the morning sunshine. I'm doing my best to enjoy the little things, because the grand scope is daunting and overwhelming lately. Colour makes me happy, and so I indulge. Cheers!

Colour My Life
I'm a colourful person, I like bright, lively things. My home definitely expresses this. I don't know how people can live in homes with no colour, no personality. My home is where my true whimsy expresses itself... where pigs can fly!
I simply can't feel at home without being surrounded by colour. It's comforting, all the little details, all the colours and shapes and textures. I fill my home with the things I desire, the things that bring me joy, and things that hold dear memories.
This kind of living is another large reason why I don't share a home with anyone else. Most people I've met live in these depressing, bland places devoid of any sort of real personal touches. It makes me lonely to be someplace dominated by bare walls and emptiness. I keep hoping someday I'll maybe find a trustworthy, hygienic hippie friend with whom I could make a home. But until then, I live in this kaleidoscopic wonderland with just my thoughts as company.
